Since October 21, 2019, the Pulp Production Plant of Arkhangelsk PPM has improved the ECF pulp bleaching technology. The chlorine dioxide bleaching stage was divided into two delignification stages carried out in two separate bleaching towers. In addition, the consumption of chlorine dioxide for pulp bleaching was significantly reduced due to the use of hydrogen peroxide.
The ECF technology is a generally accepted industrial and environmental trend aimed to reduce the negative impact on the environment by significantly reducing chlororganic compounds in production effluents and finished products.
According to Vadim Moseev, the Head of Pulp Production Plant at APPM JSC, the improvement of bleaching will not only reduce the negative impact on the environment by increasing the environmental safety of production, but also it will increase the competitiveness of Arkhangelsk PPM in the Russian and world markets.
As previously reported, according to the development strategy, APPM plans to increase the total annual pulp cooking from the existing 870.1 thousand tons to 1 million tons.
