The President of Russia Vladimir Putin Congratulated APPM with 80th Anniversary

On August 28, Arkhangelsk PPM, JSC celebrated its 80th anniversary.

In his telegram of greetings to Arkhangelsk PPM the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin pointed out: “After the startup in 1940, your enterprise began producing military goods in several months of work. Within its walls legendary “front-line brigades”, consisting mostly of women, teenagers, old people were made. In extreme conditions, they successfully handled the tasks set out to production collective and were responsible and dedicated to their work. Today Arkhangelsk PPM is rightfully considered as one of the leading pulp and paper enterprises in Russia. It is important that you treat to heroic chapters of history of your very own mill with deep respect, look up to veterans, who set up the traditions of honest and conscientious work. And for sure, your hard, highly demanded work deserves special recognition. It is focused on implementation of substantial social infrastructural development programs of Pomorye, improvement of ecological situation in the region”.   

The head of the state also wished APPM personnel new professional achievements and all the best.

During anniversary year, the mill successfully finished the priority investment forest exploitation project ‘APPM Board Production rebuild’, which was implemented in 2008-2020. Actual project investments amounted to more than 14.5 bln. rubles. The following projects were successfully implemented: BM-1 rebuild and BM-2 reconstruction, building of new semi-chemical pulp line and new evaporation station, reconstruction of new recovery boilers SRK-1 and SRK-2 and building of coal boiler in boiler cells No. 7-9.

                All in all, during 20 years 52 bln. rubles were invested to production development in the terms of broad-scale modernization program. Mill products are sold in more than 75 countries all over the world.

Nowadays Arkhangelsk PPM is the core of vertical-integrated structure (VIS). Austrian-German group of companies Pulp Mill Holding includes five major enterprises: Arkhangelsk PPM, Arkhbum, JSC, which focuses on the production of corrugated board packages with five processing centers (Istra-1, Istra-2, Podolsk, Voronezh, Ulyanovsk), logistic company Arkhbum, LLC and one of the major manufacturer of sanitary tissue products with its own brand Soffione – Arkhbum Tissue Group, LLC. In the context of arranged VIS, over the years, group of companies ‘Titan’ is the supplier of forest raw materials to holding flagship enterprise – Arkhangelsk PPM.

Arkhangelsk PPM continues implementation of investment program. By 2025, annual pulp cooking output will amount to more than million tons.

The mill plans the start-up of a new sulphate board plant at its site. This plant is planned to be the most up-to-date and environment oriented in Europe.

Among new promising projects of APPM and Pulp Mill Holding, there is the construction of two new plants for the production of recycled cardboard for corrugated packaging (ARKHBUM LINER) and paper bags (ARKHBUM UPAK).

The priorities of the mill development are the complete gasification of the enterprise and the construction of the 2nd plant of Arkhbum Tissue Group.

The APPM's certain achievement is the consistent improvement of its environmental activities. This anniversary year, Arkhangelsk PPM has become the 'green spot' of the Barents Region.

To understand the effectiveness of its work in the field of climate change mitigation, the mill regularly takes part in the international project on disclosure of data on greenhouse gas emissions – the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Based on the 2018 reporting results, APPM was given the highest 'A-' rating among the Russian companies.

APPM has made a point of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption by 50% by 2025.

Annual investments in its main capital assets (APPM's employees, their children, veterans of the enterprise), as well as in the amenity infrastructure of Novodvinsk, charity and patronage are about half a billion rubles.​
