Biodiversity Conservation

Arkhangelsk PPM was one of the first companies in the industry to introduce a biodiversity conservation program as part of its corporate sustainability strategy. The program runs until 2030 and covers almost 130,000 sq. km — more than 20% of the total area of the Arkhangelsk Region.

We:
  • assess environmental risks and monitor the state of ecosystems;
  • apply modern approaches to responsible natural resource management;
  • contribute to the restoration of natural resources and the preservation of aquatic ecosystems;
  • maintain ongoing dialogue with scientific and expert communities on environmental protection.

Our program combines conservation and educational initiatives, creating a systematic approach to biodiversity protection and the sustainable development of the regions where we operate.

Protecting and Studying Owls

Together with Kenozero National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site, we are implementing the Owl Protecting and Studying Program. The project aims to study owl species, including their populations, distribution, and ecological characteristics.

Together with scientists, we:
  • update the lists of owl species found in the territories of Kenozero and Onega Pomorye National Parks;
  • collect new data on owl populations and distribution;
  • make owl watching more accessible and engaging for a wider audience.

The park`s biodiversity records currently include 18 owl species. Field expeditions and migration studies have helped scientists identify additional species that hadn`t previously been recorded in these areas.
