Experts raise the alarm: before the beginning of 2023 EC plans to introduce carbon tax for import of products from the countries where greenhouse gas emissions are exceeded. The losses of Russian export may reach 33 bln. $ for the period from 2025 till 2030. On November 4, 2020, the President of Russia signed an ordinance on “The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions” with a view to reduce emissions of CO2 by 2030 by 70% in comparison with 1990 level.
Carbon regulation will be performed in the form of arrangement of information on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and stimulation of company for introduction of low-carbon policies. The absorbing potential of Russian forest and other climatic projects, capable to provide climatic balance of the country, shall become the mechanism of emissions compensation.
