CEO of APPM became a member of Government Committee on Forest Sector Development

The Chairman of the Government Mikhail Mishustin has approved the Government Committee on Forest Sector Development by the relevant Order.

Totally, there are more than 40 people in the Committee. Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko, who is responsible for the state policy in the forest sector, heads the new structure.

Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov were appointed as Deputy Chairmen of the Committee. Sergey Anoprienko, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, was appointed as executive secretary.

The Committee also included Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Control Ministry Anatoly Suprunovsky, Deputies Economic Development Minister Vladimir Ilyichev and Ilya Torosov, Deputy Finance Minister Irina Okladnikova, Deputy Head of Minister of Construction Nikita Stasishin, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency Ivan Sovetnikov and representatives of other agencies and the Federal Assembly of RF.

Dmitry Zyliov, CEO of Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC, is among the representatives of business community.

The new structure will provide the interaction of the authorities, scientific organizations and entrepreneurs in the development of the forest management and industry. It will focus on the issues of forest protection and fire control, fight against illegal timber trade, protection of forests against unfavorable factors and restoration of their ecological potential, providing forests with up-to-date equipment and increasing profitability of the forest sector.

The meetings of the Committee will be held whenever required, but not less than once a quarter. The decisions will be taken by open voting by a simple majority of votes.
