APPM confirmed the correspondence of its management system to the requirements of new international standard ISO 45001

20 nov 2020

The project on bringing of the existing APPM management system to the conformity with international innovations regarding health protection and labor safety resulted in the obtaining of the certificate of conformity to the requirements of new standard ISO 45001:2018 “Management systems of health protection and labor safety. Requirements and recommendations for use”. Earlier, since 2006, the mill was certified according to standard OHSAS 18001 in this field.

Implementation of ISO 45001 requirements at APPM was performed according to the developed program of activities from the beginning of 2019 until organization of surveillance audit of integrated management system (IMS) in the current year. In the terms of the audit, a change-over to ISO 45001:2018 was planned.

This time, the surveillance audit was divided into two stages because of difficult epidemic situation in the country. The first stage of IMS external audit was held at the mill in May of this year remotely in the managing departments and with senior managers of the mill, including Director General. The second (face-to-face) stage of audit was held in August 2020 at the departments and at the divisions of senior specialists of the mill with observance of all required preventive norms.

According to the results of both audit stages certification authority “TMS RUS”, LLC, included into the group of companies TÜV SÜD rendered a decision of conformity of APPM IMS with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. After preparation of audit report and after its checking by German partners, in October certification authority issued a new certificate of conformity with ISO 45001:2018 to Arkhangelsk PPM.

The work on the development of IMS and performance of voluntary assumed obligations, including obligations in the field of quality, environment protection, health protection and labor safety, social responsibility at APPM is still in progress. Senior executives of the company considers that IMS development allows Arkhangelsk PPM to function steadily, remaining the leader of the industry, continue implementation of investment projects, even in difficult and unfavorable environmental conditions.

The development is carried out using analysis and improvement of business processes, usage of modern management means, in particular “lean production”, involvement of all staff members of the mill, who have an opportunity to submit proposal on the improvement and receive the deserved reward.

In 2021, the mill expects the next IMS recertification in connection with expiration of earlier issued ISO certificates.
