The APPM publication “The Birth of a Giant. 1934 - 1940" became the best book about the Russian North

23 apr 2020
Every year the Book and Copyright Day is celebrated worldwide on April 23. According to the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library named after N.A.Dobrolyubov, the holiday is intended to recall the indispensable role of the book in education, culture, science and personality formation. For 18 consecutive years, the winners of the regional contest "Book of the Year" have been announced on this day in the Arkhangelsk region. In order not to interrupt this good tradition, the members of the jury worked remotely.

The book “The Birth of a Giant. 1934 - 1940" written by Pavel Fasonov and Elena Zakharova won in the nomination “The Best Book about the Russian North (author)”.

We would like to remind that the publication is dedicated to the epoch of the mill construction and the worker’s settlement of Mechkostroy - the future city of Novodvinsk. The book tells about the events that took place in 1934-1940 from the moment of taken decision to build a mill until the production of the first mill commercial products.
