The Timber Supplier of the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill Increases the Volumes of Water Transportation

Water transportation of timber occupies an important place in the logistics system of the general supplier of timber to the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, the Titan Group of companies. On May, 22 the logistics enterprise of the Titan Holding, “Belomorskaya Boom Company” LLC (“BBC”) successfully completed the timber float program. 27 timber floats (more than 315 thousand m3 of wood) were delivered to the address of “Sawmill 25”, CJSC and the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, JSC, of which eight with the volume of 81 thousand m3 were delivered to the APPM and 19 timber floats with the volume of 234 thousand m3 to the timber floats stopping place of the sawmill complex.

All these timber floats were formed by the forces of Verkhnetoyemsky division of the Titan Group of companies in the log storage and bundling area of Bolshaya Svaga and Yerogodskoye (Tacha).

Being the largest shipping enterprise in the Arkhangelsk region “BBC” provides logistics services on inland waterways of the Northern Dvina River (with its tributaries). During the season-2022 the company implements timber transportation both along the Northern Dvina River and the Vychegda River to other forest users.

Currently the logistics company has completed the timber float program for the year 2022 and is engaged in transportation of timber by barges. In total, this year about 1 million m3 of timber harvested by the enterprises of the Titan Group of companies is intended to be transported by water transport.

The first timber barge arrived at the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill at the very beginning of May with the opening of the seaport of Arkhangelsk. In total more than 500 thousand m3 of pulpwood are planned to be delivered to the plant by this type of river transport.

The holding emphasized that nowadays timber floating is the most environmentally friendly and economical type of wood raw materials transportation which makes it possible to transport timber harvested in winter period from the hard-to-reach areas of the region.

The Titan Group of companies annually supplies about 4 million m3 of timber to the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill. Since 2019 the holding has started to actively develop a new business line – «shipbuilding and shiprepairing”. On the basis of “BBC” more than 20 ships, floating cranes and barges have been modernized. Nowadays the “Belomorskaya Boom Company” has all the necessary equipment for high quality shiprepairing and shipbuilding. The staff employs 250 highly qualified specialists. The enterprise owns more than 100 fleet units (tugboats, barges, floating cranes).
